I wanted to get to Asda early, get what i needed and be home before the crowds of shoppers. I was back home by 10 am and packed it all away and settled with a cuppa. I bought some milk free treats to send to my grand children and here's what i bought. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDfpCailAsVMFRCmvETD0V6xzoIDK1qNrcTVKlBUrFgWTzNLd38bwkavfhcWOKhhXhPmbg4YMttvGEZmSpz_X2oUKRMSK1tHy5w8i40EH444yBFihYjVTUfoweuGLOxEOct3rOQueoiFuJomCuqkwrAM0A8QPbxcdcKlVu7cTHLTGe5nPFA1WFjh-KY20/s3840/IMG-20230930-WA0004.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2160" data-original-width="3840" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDfpCailAsVMFRCmvETD0V6xzoIDK1qNrcTVKlBUrFgWTzNLd38bwkavfhcWOKhhXhPmbg4YMttvGEZmSpz_X2oUKRMSK1tHy5w8i40EH444yBFihYjVTUfoweuGLOxEOct3rOQueoiFuJomCuqkwrAM0A8QPbxcdcKlVu7cTHLTGe5nPFA1WFjh-KY20/s320/IMG-20230930-WA0004.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>Asda do a much better option for free from products and they are not cheap. </p><p>I also wanted to try a Bacon and egg pie tasty my son made is when we were there. Chilton in Durham is so quiet, no sirens, loud noise, not many people around and no rubbish or graffiti. The end of our road was all countryside with farms and the smell of horse 💩 or ploughed fields. Lots of blue sky and there are no blocks of flats built. </p><p>Im hoping to win lotto to move there cause I've realised it's where i want to be, away from all of this noise.</p><p>I hardly did much knitting, i was playing with grandkids most of time and when they went to bed it was just us adults putting the world to rights and enjoying good food.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbOP9qxqV38NFoBwcWvQtPVbgG1r7YG94MRKX4NSfcr1LxDs7Gd2L2XIdEHQyfh1ELtkRY4_gKG5K5MZmGMBDzuVxW3IRE1dekuMis_05kvcgAsrcKRkyfg5QDxLQzMXeIOIqz-L5W4OQGuJkEBKZxSxSLPuh4ohhLVyv8LnksdShOR-bFhI8naL7d8J4/s1600/IMG-20230929-WA0015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="1600" height="144" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbOP9qxqV38NFoBwcWvQtPVbgG1r7YG94MRKX4NSfcr1LxDs7Gd2L2XIdEHQyfh1ELtkRY4_gKG5K5MZmGMBDzuVxW3IRE1dekuMis_05kvcgAsrcKRkyfg5QDxLQzMXeIOIqz-L5W4OQGuJkEBKZxSxSLPuh4ohhLVyv8LnksdShOR-bFhI8naL7d8J4/s320/IMG-20230929-WA0015.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>I will leave you with the photo at Hardwick Park of the swans and their big babies. </p>suehbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16197711591852759099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6183360411061026460.post-35066287114282485612023-09-26T06:05:00.003-07:002023-09-26T06:05:57.669-07:0026th September 2023<p> We got to our destination without fuss. Its 7 am and on the bus for another work day. I have been working on my tunisian scrap blanket using a 5mm hook and double knit yarn scraps. I've also put 4 ply sock scraps held together. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuvQZSYAmJDwaFMIXa0VWCTJfSQ4puFaTvcdzAUJljrtKYY0M-f1AVMAe8gzddVayK-HgcHMkPbxtD5ZXD7RsxhyGRC7gkiD6eshZ1mQnD1YaEGebA19Ey5LSg-4E4DEPnpk4oZwRwcWbvXc1DqqOT_n5_uyObyFhjftuNTTbj6tuxlBD2YXHbMLE18wY/s4032/20230920_065142.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuvQZSYAmJDwaFMIXa0VWCTJfSQ4puFaTvcdzAUJljrtKYY0M-f1AVMAe8gzddVayK-HgcHMkPbxtD5ZXD7RsxhyGRC7gkiD6eshZ1mQnD1YaEGebA19Ey5LSg-4E4DEPnpk4oZwRwcWbvXc1DqqOT_n5_uyObyFhjftuNTTbj6tuxlBD2YXHbMLE18wY/s320/20230920_065142.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>It's growing quite well and all I'm doing is simple stitch and purl stitch. There's no planning or designing at all.. its just fun using up my scraps. <p></p><p>I also watched a podcast this morning about slow stitch journal and i started one ages ago so i must get on with that. I just need to get a better supply of lace, fabric scraps etc to give me a bit more choice. </p><p>Oh well, I've got to get off the bus and c get the next one. Have a good day everyone. </p>suehbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16197711591852759099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6183360411061026460.post-61021428631534983002023-09-17T04:16:00.001-07:002023-09-17T04:16:18.840-07:0017th September 2033<p> </p><p>It is a lovely cool Sunday here in Essex and we are due some heavy rain and possibly some thunder which I am looking forward to. I hate throwing away scraps and I decided to get the sewing machine out and just randomly sew scraps onto a piece of wadding with a cotton backing. It took a fair while to do. On some of the folds you can see dress making pins which is where I made a 'boo boo' and could not get the fabric to either fit or have enough to fold. </div><div><br /></div><div>I have been having a go at some basic embroidering stitches like running stitch, hem stitch and chain stitch and quite enjoy that motion of slow stitching. </div><div><br /></div><div>Again, I really do not know what it will be so at the moment I am just going to enjoy it. I am hoping I might find inspiration from the many podcasts I watch on Youtube and be enabled to make something. We will see how it goes.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>The next photo is of a beautiful Peacock butterfly that my partner took whilst at Duncan Terrace in Islington. It has had work improvements to the river itself, the pump system and some of the shrubs. If you had seen it last year, it was quite unkempt because the council didn't want the staff to get in the river to clear away the duck weed. </div><div><br /></div><div>However, lately it has been removed and looks so much better with the new pump. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyYKoSveDrfxbxlbmhBzrrhCCgoMzM3uTLVTtbB_tQpU3pzivNUkUGn4rXxWciGPsiANWvDKUc7oXZvDItP2-OKHoeDE4BkBEK2FA7cUKZdeDpxu9Xcmu-lRdJM6fixYU9J-oSEWNRso7_E8I3BZs2yc6HHTwIGMGnv_uGNLqihFacTRNO8Uf6dISPm2A/s2000/IMG-20230905-WA0004.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="900" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyYKoSveDrfxbxlbmhBzrrhCCgoMzM3uTLVTtbB_tQpU3pzivNUkUGn4rXxWciGPsiANWvDKUc7oXZvDItP2-OKHoeDE4BkBEK2FA7cUKZdeDpxu9Xcmu-lRdJM6fixYU9J-oSEWNRso7_E8I3BZs2yc6HHTwIGMGnv_uGNLqihFacTRNO8Uf6dISPm2A/s320/IMG-20230905-WA0004.jpg" width="144" /></a></div>The next photo is of the foot bridge that was replaced last year as well. Sadly, with all the works going on in New River, the gates were closed to the public and it took a long time for it all to be done. Also, when the contractors drained the river a lot of the birds had left. </div><div><br /></div><div>It was so sad to see it all like that and hoping in time it will all come back to normal and get nesting birds next year in the spring. </div><div><br /></div><div>It is quite a nice surprise when you walk around Islington and then find the river. It has quite a lot of history and if you get time go and google New River Walk, Islington and you will find out a lot about it's history. </div><div><br /></div><div>Well, that is it for now. I am going to go and rest and hopefully do a bit of crafting.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><p><br /></p></div>suehbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16197711591852759099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6183360411061026460.post-64203124105521475572023-09-16T11:40:00.004-07:002023-09-16T11:40:53.302-07:0016th September 2023<p> At work all i think about is my family and my hobbies. I have particularly thought about what i can start next and should it be colourful or bland. My son has asked me to knit a blanket that is to do with Lord of the rings so i am going to research it first on Ravelry.</p><p>I got my slow stitching out and sorted my sewing threads. Mt partner took this photo..</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP8juiAKDZVrlRgt26lybwmaahv92rpayBlBJTdf_EwO7Npl9B4kF5A_C0JVIyCnJFxt_l0H5WH1aZkk7yTs381efvKOlYUepTS8nfxZ0rQpzS4Djgs52wvG_Ps4sc8tc9GqhhdQqt_28q-_MSzVIay4LXzsbJqmJAkzdP3vZ2mTH45zlfG9nifYM8xIM/s2048/IMG-20230910-WA0009.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1348" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP8juiAKDZVrlRgt26lybwmaahv92rpayBlBJTdf_EwO7Npl9B4kF5A_C0JVIyCnJFxt_l0H5WH1aZkk7yTs381efvKOlYUepTS8nfxZ0rQpzS4Djgs52wvG_Ps4sc8tc9GqhhdQqt_28q-_MSzVIay4LXzsbJqmJAkzdP3vZ2mTH45zlfG9nifYM8xIM/s320/IMG-20230910-WA0009.jpg" width="211" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It's quite a good photo. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div>Im about to go to bed now so I'll post some photos tomorrow of what i have finished. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><p><br /></p>suehbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16197711591852759099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6183360411061026460.post-35960663643180827682023-09-11T11:57:00.005-07:002023-09-11T11:57:39.757-07:0011th September 2023<p>Hi, I have decided to have a go at selling my crafting designs on Ko-fi. Not sure if it will come to fruition but got to at least try. I've posted 4 pretty wooden pendants with William Morris design for now will update again tomorrow with some more. Let's just see how it goes. </p><p>I have had a lovely relaxing weekend and been busy crocheting the cot blanket for a Christmas present.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbJ1AyHi8HHgRIR8SwdZnnNaHZR2dgjNt5TgdKuNmHJHd0DzZDihhAmTD9QZLrtdMva4pnJ71H7Z9et2JwezbHoBEnbfeYKrWlt5B7HajIhN5dekr7VJMdA1CGKMNNioKPs4TWJ_ttv_9ySH5XwDPOoHH48MBgJEJ16JyTtFb-VAiwINZUOby7jHhmehk/s1440/IMG_20230910_122900_506.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="1440" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbJ1AyHi8HHgRIR8SwdZnnNaHZR2dgjNt5TgdKuNmHJHd0DzZDihhAmTD9QZLrtdMva4pnJ71H7Z9et2JwezbHoBEnbfeYKrWlt5B7HajIhN5dekr7VJMdA1CGKMNNioKPs4TWJ_ttv_9ySH5XwDPOoHH48MBgJEJ16JyTtFb-VAiwINZUOby7jHhmehk/s320/IMG_20230910_122900_506.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2PoQZ1e-03yTaXntlWMSHW5asu0ji_pTm2xeZOxwpXD4VdzIvYE6G7LRM-2Fvj9H3IPcot11I3VvsoV5Bryj08uzKHK5xQdTwvygu2vXULs0dTKSZioxiXC1rbFc8Rtm3ztjEZI21CJPjqb9m-VzEKO6AB0YlXmOi22aTg2cvkVdN6TxMC2Qp_Kk2LfM/s1440/IMG_20230910_122900_548.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="1440" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2PoQZ1e-03yTaXntlWMSHW5asu0ji_pTm2xeZOxwpXD4VdzIvYE6G7LRM-2Fvj9H3IPcot11I3VvsoV5Bryj08uzKHK5xQdTwvygu2vXULs0dTKSZioxiXC1rbFc8Rtm3ztjEZI21CJPjqb9m-VzEKO6AB0YlXmOi22aTg2cvkVdN6TxMC2Qp_Kk2LfM/s320/IMG_20230910_122900_548.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>I am so pleased with it. I did a tunisian crochet border which is the purple and then outlined it with white. I used Paintbox Simply Aran and only one 100g ball of each colour.. not bad aye.</p><p><br /></p><p>Im going to try and link the Ko-fi account now but if it doesn't work you can find me as craftingbranch there and also on Instagram.</p><p> <a href="https://instagram.com/craftingbranch?igshid=YTQwZjQ0NmI0OA==">https://instagram.com/craftingbranch?</a><a href="https://instagram.com/craftingbranch?igshid=YTQwZjQ0NmI0OA==">igshid=YTQwZjQ0NmI0OA==</a></p><p><br /></p><p>https://ko-fi.com/craftingbranch</p>suehbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16197711591852759099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6183360411061026460.post-70538135354488376662023-09-08T01:55:00.006-07:002023-09-08T01:57:27.622-07:008th September 2023<p> I've got a day off today and am so glad cause its 32 degrees today. I am staying home and following the weather mans suggestion of closing doors and windows to keep the heat out. I am still in my nightie with fan on and hopefully as the day goes by it will be worth it. </p><p>I'm doing minimal chores today like a wash load which is already out on the line, a bit of hoovering and then it is podcast time. I've been following StitchedbyMrsD on youtube and love it. Im also going to watch Cherryheart and maybe some English Paper Piecing stuff, too.</p><p>I have been working on my EPP but mainly trying to get a granny stripe blanket done.. I am using Paintbox Simply Aran with 9 colours of 100g balls. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4RvyBYOlhL-GgET5uOmTFDjeLmSOcqwczunIawIbl_N7bzY_eqpek9Y8tBFKMUe9LcW-WOVJFMm2pOF4amqDra0shHtT5y18IFvDU2d53GTiQwF_0ijYynJ6rff_Ip2M-UUAsgw1pS1cOi7uqocRFHa9g88XCgKNWElKGuasFuelja7bVW-C8_GtNAa0/s4032/20230908_094216.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4RvyBYOlhL-GgET5uOmTFDjeLmSOcqwczunIawIbl_N7bzY_eqpek9Y8tBFKMUe9LcW-WOVJFMm2pOF4amqDra0shHtT5y18IFvDU2d53GTiQwF_0ijYynJ6rff_Ip2M-UUAsgw1pS1cOi7uqocRFHa9g88XCgKNWElKGuasFuelja7bVW-C8_GtNAa0/s320/20230908_094216.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdB6KYaXCZ_HoXnDK5UBkrN4zvqps_-P9PMrgrjK6MDEp8WYPQnjFXoKA3k0r2hL8HcGFNSEfzcetnfqBjCxUJLpu2D4Uf-XCP5jnfQ7_f06D5ZRHGPhk7x48scvNzsv76h43IEP3-LPXJcq73ZMz3VPycOQIgfZpDPeflKAi9nzL53dqkD-Yg5SN9Npo/s4032/20230908_094221.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdB6KYaXCZ_HoXnDK5UBkrN4zvqps_-P9PMrgrjK6MDEp8WYPQnjFXoKA3k0r2hL8HcGFNSEfzcetnfqBjCxUJLpu2D4Uf-XCP5jnfQ7_f06D5ZRHGPhk7x48scvNzsv76h43IEP3-LPXJcq73ZMz3VPycOQIgfZpDPeflKAi9nzL53dqkD-Yg5SN9Npo/s320/20230908_094221.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><p>I wanted to see how far a 100g ball goes, and you can see I'm on my 4th repeat of colours and have got just enough. I'm not crocheting it on my lap though, it's to the side of my hip. I don't need more heat on me. </p><p>The next photo is a boring mess on my coffee table but to me it's everything that i need today. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSYB7UzwYVxbZjq5zj1OyLi7WMGsPZTkVQ8AxA9XZZtV60Y48Aac4UodxaulA7rBzbdQsAyvta9SiWkDz-RaTJ4YyjufS05MBgaV8zbIg-TNnNWs6kuC6-clsOxgANnrHd3EUmW9ZlLyNnhcEt0TXYw8niYZBVH75EWWWceB1sgaOzYF2eASWpYPJX46c/s4032/20230908_095333.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSYB7UzwYVxbZjq5zj1OyLi7WMGsPZTkVQ8AxA9XZZtV60Y48Aac4UodxaulA7rBzbdQsAyvta9SiWkDz-RaTJ4YyjufS05MBgaV8zbIg-TNnNWs6kuC6-clsOxgANnrHd3EUmW9ZlLyNnhcEt0TXYw8niYZBVH75EWWWceB1sgaOzYF2eASWpYPJX46c/s320/20230908_095333.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>Im off now to enjoy the 🤫. </p>suehbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16197711591852759099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6183360411061026460.post-397241536999380792023-09-06T08:21:00.000-07:002023-09-06T08:21:02.253-07:006th September 2023<p> What's going on..326 views today. I dont like having too many projects on the go so i keep it to a knit, crochet and sewing project. The crochet project is my granny scrap blanket that sits at the side of the bed for when i feel like working on it. The knit project is....</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy7fJtpz0kedH54078nHnILR8FwQ1M5l1RB6GrjNf7peNghtAT1GiW-f1TfwZFuqxvbrW-B-QI2oO6S0VIcFK0u5T16uMZancPiuF04Rmv9C_n1roWCiLuWK-y7bo6HzY0D-yrTyLVq4C9EOq8KcVNQdhmS7fMUHN9DMI0lhAZ1TnhLDFqRdpUISyHU9U/s1440/IMG_20230801_201746_271.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="1440" height="277" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy7fJtpz0kedH54078nHnILR8FwQ1M5l1RB6GrjNf7peNghtAT1GiW-f1TfwZFuqxvbrW-B-QI2oO6S0VIcFK0u5T16uMZancPiuF04Rmv9C_n1roWCiLuWK-y7bo6HzY0D-yrTyLVq4C9EOq8KcVNQdhmS7fMUHN9DMI0lhAZ1TnhLDFqRdpUISyHU9U/w277-h277/IMG_20230801_201746_271.jpg" width="277" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It is merino handspun blended with some stalina that my grandkids did a couple of years ago. We went Stratford Shopping Centre this morning and was home by midday... got so busy and noisy so we came home. I wanted to get some yarn from John Lewis Store for a pair of socks i wanted to start but they have such little stock. They had Rowan yarn but I'm not willing to pay over £10 a ball. </p><p>So we came home and what did i do, i fell asleep for an hour. Then i did some chores and started working on another page of my slow stitch embroidery book...</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXpNK3467tYE-14Jl2kJINRAhKN75us7tvi6X32OnWnFstxi3dnUMMUZAEmStP3xSZIleJOV9DlwYVAl4UXp2FGYHpiDV1GZdd80XbFSCFz8o_fAkNqtrXcyngENFAEfpAbXBzQLFI-yEEggfeHxKT41z0kocd1P7BqdtYf9Gnb01sPOn-rEIuinflacs/s4032/20230729_221429.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXpNK3467tYE-14Jl2kJINRAhKN75us7tvi6X32OnWnFstxi3dnUMMUZAEmStP3xSZIleJOV9DlwYVAl4UXp2FGYHpiDV1GZdd80XbFSCFz8o_fAkNqtrXcyngENFAEfpAbXBzQLFI-yEEggfeHxKT41z0kocd1P7BqdtYf9Gnb01sPOn-rEIuinflacs/s320/20230729_221429.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><p>I stitched a pretty piece of fabric that reminds me of spring with blanket stitch on the edges and then had a go at stitching around some little mirrors onto fabric. I then used blanket stitch to put in position. I also had some laser cut birds and stitched them on too using DMC thread over the branches. I've left the birds blank cause i felt they can be a mystery bird. I'm now thinking of how i can stitch some raindrops on but not 100% sure if i want to. </p><p>Tomorrow i intend to do a little more crafting once the chores are done. </p><p><br /></p>suehbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16197711591852759099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6183360411061026460.post-5085744062504724572023-07-17T11:30:00.038-07:002023-07-17T11:52:34.610-07:0017th July 2023<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioLiBXIHBzmasBL-WbyknAw3GoKtnLDH6rF1gk50zRwI6AYyoO2kAHhPZPZSULrjsVTe8kdQWQBRCcbenWkAxyt1hwSjJlESDNvkq5JRNIZZ6vHfp61ShZwNcmW03v8GP52T3obcynqLv2qKtlusLIJnTiMVesGGbhsmmFkq6lO_vkklPqQrHGpenZS0A/s4032/20230717_191200.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioLiBXIHBzmasBL-WbyknAw3GoKtnLDH6rF1gk50zRwI6AYyoO2kAHhPZPZSULrjsVTe8kdQWQBRCcbenWkAxyt1hwSjJlESDNvkq5JRNIZZ6vHfp61ShZwNcmW03v8GP52T3obcynqLv2qKtlusLIJnTiMVesGGbhsmmFkq6lO_vkklPqQrHGpenZS0A/s320/20230717_191200.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /> I said I would be back and here are a few photos of what I have been up to. The socks to the left are called Grannies-In-A-Row and I got the pattern from Ravelry. The cuff is partly crochet and it is a good idea. They were not difficult to do but I would like to emphasise the fact that make sure you cast off the cuff with a stretchy bind off. If you don't then you will not get the socks on over your feet.<div><br /></div><div>I used Signature 4ply and the multi coloured was a Drops Fabel Print which is also a 4 ply.</div><div><br /></div><div>I will never tire of knitting socks...especially now that I have a new pattern book that came in the post today.<br /><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhx9Ru07Gb0GH_Bs_TY3809jPOJkIR0F-JP7V1g65810xluiWN60gyP-pHbXAdeZh4dzzw7BTR-FHZLkacbfBuCaZByu11CeA0ijhwSifY2MHlwubkvdG0-uhrNHIA92DM_jCqsJ0dl6SPY8660EdzBSxHCYBNXvVj_V2WoyimpEs5kcq7SFjMhah1gBk/s4032/20230717_191225.jpg" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhx9Ru07Gb0GH_Bs_TY3809jPOJkIR0F-JP7V1g65810xluiWN60gyP-pHbXAdeZh4dzzw7BTR-FHZLkacbfBuCaZByu11CeA0ijhwSifY2MHlwubkvdG0-uhrNHIA92DM_jCqsJ0dl6SPY8660EdzBSxHCYBNXvVj_V2WoyimpEs5kcq7SFjMhah1gBk/s320/20230717_191225.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>The next photo to the right is of a crochet hat that I started yesterday using a 3 mm crochet hoot and some DK yarn called King Cole Big Value. <p></p></div></div><div>I crocheted a brim which stretches to roughly 21 inches and then sewed the ends together. I am still trying to use up my acrylic stash into blankets and will start another one soon and probably gift it. I have so many now!</p><p>I have just finished a bolster cushion that I have called Onions Bolster on my Ravelry projects. I had a go at yarn dyeing with onion skins and it was a good experience. So interesting to do but I decided to just do it now and then when I want a unique colour. Now that it is winter and have got no chance of getting skeins dry, I decided to maybe have a go again in the spring/summer next year.</p><p>Here is a few photos of the bolster cushion that I have finished tonight. I have decided it is a present for my son and his partner for Christmas. I have enough cushions around the house.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1RPMktPym9bnxMRZ2WaqM9r1rByf95e-lVw77qhEwTUQEvuL59Gvm2vTeUQMv6qnbSue_A_B6bj_zOgLzYjwr6JkllK1Be2uEOKy1MujIJ26IxK4WkD7E6Z0Q_rv9_Dg_AbpnJRmPY_M/s2016/20211114_181119.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1RPMktPym9bnxMRZ2WaqM9r1rByf95e-lVw77qhEwTUQEvuL59Gvm2vTeUQMv6qnbSue_A_B6bj_zOgLzYjwr6JkllK1Be2uEOKy1MujIJ26IxK4WkD7E6Z0Q_rv9_Dg_AbpnJRmPY_M/s320/20211114_181119.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>It was originally going to be a cowl but I got a bit bored and after deciding it was long enough for a cushion, I left it sitting in my craft pile to be finished and then after about a month, I picked it up again and picked up stitches at one end making sure I left a ridge to show a bit of texture and just knitted and decreased to make it look like the top of a hat.<div><br /></div><div>I then put it down again for a few days and then Friday evening I started on the other end. In between entertaining the Grandkids (they have gone home now, Sunday) and after finally sitting down and resting this afternoon, I picked up stitches at the other end and just 7 rounds of knitting, an eyelet round, 7 rounds of knitting and again an eyelet round. I then did a few plain rounds and casted it off. </div><div><br /></div><div>I threaded through the eyelet holes with some craft rope that I had lurking about in my craft draw and happy with the results.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNKoElyAS25zTnbjq_dWzYtOfYDZk1hDtsoyM_691YS83fPkgCuIoOLsi5894eNMushKd7w0lFD_tqtFtjnWaMvO9xIi8XYH9cB1e7EZRZzZX0ygbk6v1s7xdMZISAF7EXmyKyentiRLQ/s2016/20211114_181106.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNKoElyAS25zTnbjq_dWzYtOfYDZk1hDtsoyM_691YS83fPkgCuIoOLsi5894eNMushKd7w0lFD_tqtFtjnWaMvO9xIi8XYH9cB1e7EZRZzZX0ygbk6v1s7xdMZISAF7EXmyKyentiRLQ/s320/20211114_181106.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGO-0Ak10vftdUl5BM6MzafDj98klT5rXtgW-PbKqrUri75IHO-5cJ45HuKttz3Y64qEOkU_vFGyQcUEjII1-jXccq4BKdOrek-9ufZbcP2HqamXGr3Vrg90K0y1xhxFxEosU4vcSrASM/s2048/20211114_181035.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1924" data-original-width="2048" height="301" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGO-0Ak10vftdUl5BM6MzafDj98klT5rXtgW-PbKqrUri75IHO-5cJ45HuKttz3Y64qEOkU_vFGyQcUEjII1-jXccq4BKdOrek-9ufZbcP2HqamXGr3Vrg90K0y1xhxFxEosU4vcSrASM/s320/20211114_181035.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>Can you see the darker stripe colour. When I dyed the yarn I held 2 skeins dangling into the dyepot and then slowly emersed the rest. The yarn just sucked up most of the colour.</p><p>I am happy with the overall result and I think that if I do more dyeing, I would rather use natural colours rather than acid colours.</p><p>I will have to think about the next colour and what I can use to create it.</p><p>I did make Frank a pair of socks too out of the yarn but I forgot to take a photo of them. So out of 2 skeins of dyed yarn, I did quite well.</p><p><br /></p><p>I am so glad that Autumn/Winter is here now, I love this season. It is still quite mild though, I hope we get some cold temperatures soon so I can get my wooly hats and scarves out.</p><p>I am still working on my cross stitch which seems to be taking forever.. I am at the half way mark and will take a photo for next time.</p><p>Be back soon!</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p></div>suehbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16197711591852759099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6183360411061026460.post-49689390377214808502021-11-14T10:26:00.000-08:002021-11-14T10:26:52.116-08:0015th October 2021<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p><br /></p> I have been on annual leave since Wednesday 13 th, wanted to destress from work and people. The house is so quiet and we miss her terribly. You don't realise how attached you are to a pet until they are no longer there to cuddle, to feed, to walk, to take up space on the sofa and bed, to bark at people just going past the house. Our back door was always being opened to let Tammie out for a wee and it is so odd that, for over a week, we did not open our back door. I now make a point of opening it, even if it just to throw some bread or seeds out for the birds and squirrels that visit.</p><p>So let's get into what has been going on here in my crafting bubble. I have done a heck a lot of knitting to keep myself busy. Here is a selection of projects I have made since I last posted..</p><p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKS7amVo4yYCsROtiHQ5Mbd53LjwMWRDppbEAmCjy09QlWI6NAQ99O6QMNQo6Wp7r-UFTw_8Klot5iaFsf2E4YYkGLd1l565ZMPk7xosRHIGnAUNNvlJr-4LDsfNNF4Pj6ORmpbSBWIds/s1031/20201221_185019_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1031" data-original-width="581" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKS7amVo4yYCsROtiHQ5Mbd53LjwMWRDppbEAmCjy09QlWI6NAQ99O6QMNQo6Wp7r-UFTw_8Klot5iaFsf2E4YYkGLd1l565ZMPk7xosRHIGnAUNNvlJr-4LDsfNNF4Pj6ORmpbSBWIds/s320/20201221_185019_resized.jpg" /></a>This pattern is from a kit using Finual Garn PT2 yarn and the kit is called Cairngorm. I purchased it about a year ago from Ysolda Teague's online store. TI knitted it to pattern until I got the depth of the hat I wanted and then I stopped the fair isle on the crown. I think that fair isle stretches when you decrease a lot to form a crown. It always looks odd to me.</p><p>The chart is easy to follow, very clear and it fits on my head good. </p><p>The only negative thing I would say about it is that is not very warm. If it is a cold and windy day, like we are having now, it is not warm enough for me. </p><p>However, for the spring time weather or autumn weather, it would be perfect.</p><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><br />The next hat I knitted was just a design as you go kind of hat, I wanted to have a go at some colour work and wanted to use my Novita Nalle yarn that I have which is cream, light grey and a dark grey.<div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoES5Vu_virpAqNw5w4ZvbtlgQwQ_DvdD5eVBvscJn49GBxefDIEZqmvHZGSw2JNPMvEzK2kP37dVWH4u4O5gLtvKvhl4jU5PWsA-Scz8d_Ovxok9r42OMyVGCXHmZm69W_yY8wubalPk/s1031/20201213_174748_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1031" data-original-width="581" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoES5Vu_virpAqNw5w4ZvbtlgQwQ_DvdD5eVBvscJn49GBxefDIEZqmvHZGSw2JNPMvEzK2kP37dVWH4u4O5gLtvKvhl4jU5PWsA-Scz8d_Ovxok9r42OMyVGCXHmZm69W_yY8wubalPk/s320/20201213_174748_resized.jpg" /></a></div><br />The funny thing with this hat is that I did not think about how I was going to decrease for the crown. <div><br /><div>After a bit of frogging and frustration, I decided to just do the best I can and then hope for the best.</div><div><br /></div><div>The wool is definitely warm and soft and is great to knit with. It has washed up lovely and soft and of course, went in the washing machine which is a bonus.</div><div><br /></div><div>The crown looks a bit odd but when I took my Grandchildren home on New Years Day it was so cold and windy and the hats they had were not that warm, so my Grand daughter chose this one. It's a little big on her but pulls down over her ears to keep her warm.</div><div><br /></div><div>The next hat that I made was kind of a wing it hat too, I had some black DK yarn and some green Novita Venla yarn left over and decided to have another go at a hat with a little colour change and hopefully, a better crown.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGkgWg9gO80RNweyJN97GQkQCCOat0UCbQ8SUXKNnsEqk9EDapeMrH_jSxYA1Ni-A16nZWFPrNj8cHEoFakaPnyR3prqQGT9RdRYwf_qWg_qcQLx2c23kIB6lgdL49ANAZqGLEiYeXWWA/s1031/20201224_182605_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1031" data-original-width="581" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGkgWg9gO80RNweyJN97GQkQCCOat0UCbQ8SUXKNnsEqk9EDapeMrH_jSxYA1Ni-A16nZWFPrNj8cHEoFakaPnyR3prqQGT9RdRYwf_qWg_qcQLx2c23kIB6lgdL49ANAZqGLEiYeXWWA/s320/20201224_182605_resized.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div>As you can see, this came out much better. There is a green stripe and then when it was deep enough I decided to just decrease every other row.</div><div><br /></div><div>I knitted this on a circular needle, as per my preference at the moment, and I knitted 5, k2 tog all the way around on the first row. I then knitted 1 round. </div><div><br /></div><div>Then I knitted 4, k2 tog all the way around and then knitted a row after that.</div><div><br /></div><div>I repeated it until I got to K1, K2 together and then after doing that I just knitted 2 together.</div><div><br /></div><div>Et voila, a much better crown I have made. </div><div><br /></div><div>This one, my Grandson wanted because it had green in it and is a little big but it keeps him warm and loves it.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>I went on annual leave from 23rd December and was glad for the rest. I had to go to work on the morning that Tammie died and it was really hard to do. Luckily my job is quite busy and it was only when I came home that the tears would flow.</div><div><br /></div><div>We had our Grandchildren on the 23rd December and they stayed overnight so that Christmas Eve would be our Christmas Day with them. They woke up about 7 am and there were lots of excitement and they got spoiled as usual. They went home in the afternoon and will have them again New Years Eve so that their Mum and baby brother can stay with her parents.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMdjIcRgsytdErmuIcOwZsKo7KnxWcV4WqCrBweEaEBUIDaS1urCQtMzgCQKPHZNweG9_7vqVv0NHypJecxgGXpIpkZ1IXUnxyFwppFtlSaXve76qiWjZyedRWIxdNT_1AVDES0I5tS2Q/s1031/20201226_120804_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1031" data-original-width="581" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMdjIcRgsytdErmuIcOwZsKo7KnxWcV4WqCrBweEaEBUIDaS1urCQtMzgCQKPHZNweG9_7vqVv0NHypJecxgGXpIpkZ1IXUnxyFwppFtlSaXve76qiWjZyedRWIxdNT_1AVDES0I5tS2Q/s320/20201226_120804_resized.jpg" /></a></div>I got 7 or 8 cross stitch kits for Christmas from my partner. They are full coverage, most of them, so will keep me busy for the next year or two.</div><div><br /></div><div>There is a sampler, a daffodil and a tiger which is full coverage. There is also at the bottom right of the photo, a diamond painting which I have never done before.</div><div><br /></div><div>I do watch a lot of podcasts and love watching 'dizzysticher' on Youtube. There is such a lot of them to watch and they are amazing the amount of projects that people have on the go at one time.</div><div><br /></div><div>I could not bare having too many, I get a bit flustered and overwhelmed so I just stick to a knitting project, a crochet project and a cross stitch project.</div><div><br /></div><div>I will show an update of my latest project next time.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2sRZRvGpXNmFgJHA04g7504NJkgNy9zR8rpSndOduQbhhNZx2TIgPNYuUQIWSaGkuhCatszW-bTpHs5xBcSSavciUjt6-sCe8Rf0i-9_8zmVX_xBT1oSE6OaxQHkrRYXjniq-GgkTKEc/s1031/20201226_120731_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1031" data-original-width="581" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2sRZRvGpXNmFgJHA04g7504NJkgNy9zR8rpSndOduQbhhNZx2TIgPNYuUQIWSaGkuhCatszW-bTpHs5xBcSSavciUjt6-sCe8Rf0i-9_8zmVX_xBT1oSE6OaxQHkrRYXjniq-GgkTKEc/s320/20201226_120731_resized.jpg" /></a></div>This next photo, to the right, shows you the full coverage cross stitch kits that my partner got me too.</div><div><br /></div><div>These ones are Van Gogh pictures in full coverage. I will probably start the one that is at the top left of the photo. It is a cherry blossom in full coverage.</div><div><br /></div><div>I am working on a Christmas stocking for my Grandson for Christmas 2021 and when I have done his, I will have to start on my Grand Daughters before I can work on any of these new ones. I also have to purchase a 3rd Christmas Stocking kit for their baby brother to do.</div><div><br /></div><div>This is getting quite a long blogpost, sorry about that. I am hoping to blog once a month.</div><div><br /></div><div>I was thinking of doing a Youtube channel but I would feel a bit odd plus there is a lot of craft channels on their anyway.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>My aim this year is to try and get more views, I was getting about 500 views a month but because of my lack of posting, it has gone down quite substantially. </div><div><br /></div><div>I do read blogs, I read Yarnharlots and that is good to read and also Attic24. </div><div><br /></div><div>Oh well, I will toddle off now. I finished the cross stitching about 2-3 weeks ago and just left it hanging up clipped to a skirt clothes hanger that has grips. It was hanging on the front of my wardrobe, just looking at it and thinking about how I am going to finish it.</p><p>I had ordered some cotton fabric and wadding and today, after I had finished the ironing pile, I decided to just get on with it and finish it. </p><p>The method I used to finish it was to iron some fusible interfacing onto the back of the cross stitch, cut some wadding and backing to size and then once stitched around 3 sides, I turned it into the right way out and then hand stitched the hem bit at the top. </p><p>I had purchased a wooden and magnet brackets with string and it has gripped the top of the Bell Pull and is now hanging in my living room on the wall, above my head, where I sit and craft.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSX1jqkYN_Nw7WPZlYW7gqCgBh4bZaOucGn0q-QiY6xnw4NOSgobfLG1inGm37mufqRThlb7VO2M_cY-y5670aE8a3qAisky05yZxJIXu1eYka8US3MaNrFd72VSUBpP3Ga_wAY6OXrBg/s1031/20201129_162015_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1031" data-original-width="581" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSX1jqkYN_Nw7WPZlYW7gqCgBh4bZaOucGn0q-QiY6xnw4NOSgobfLG1inGm37mufqRThlb7VO2M_cY-y5670aE8a3qAisky05yZxJIXu1eYka8US3MaNrFd72VSUBpP3Ga_wAY6OXrBg/w225-h400/20201129_162015_resized.jpg" width="225" /></a></div><p>I got the pattern from a book that I had purchased from a charity shop.</p><p>The book is called 'The Art of William Morris in Cross Stitch" by Barbara Hammet.</p><p>There are such a lot of great patterns in the book and I fell in love with this one. The design is originally stitched on a blue even weave but I didn't like it. </p><p>I stitched it on 32 count even weave in a beige/cream colour and also used DMC threads and once I had finished kitting it up, I started stitching "in hand" at first.</p><p>I did use a hoop at one point but didn't like the marks it was leaving so I changed to a rectangle scroll frame which, although felt a bit uncomfortable, I did persevere with it. </p><p>My partner bought me a Lowry Stand which is metal. It has a plate at the bottom which fits under your sofa and then an adjustable rod that twists round. It then has an adjustable bar that you clip your cross stitch frame to and you can swing the work near you or away from you. </p><p>The stand helped so much with completing the cross stitching. I do suffer with vertigo so having my head downwards all the time, does make me dizzy and this frame has helped with keeping my head up a little. </p><p>So, there you have it, a completed project that I hope will be around longer than I am. I have tagged it at the bottom with my name and the year.</p><p>I will be back in a few days time to show off my completed crochet blanket. I just have ends to sew in and then take a good photo of it. I was thinking of posting a picture on my Instagram account but the blanket's recipient is on there and I don't want to spoil the surprise. It is there Christmas present.</p><p>I will be back soon, hope everyone is keeping safe. </p><p><br /></p>suehbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16197711591852759099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6183360411061026460.post-64451397658443984872020-11-23T10:06:00.001-08:002020-11-23T10:06:30.036-08:00Covid or no Covid<p> I just don't know what to actually say about this flipping pandemic that's taking so many lives and affecting so many. Even though I work at my local hospital, I do not see the real stress, anxieties and sheer determination through exhaustion that some of my colleagues go through. I did not want to write about Covid on here but whilst thinking about seeing it on the news every day and the conversations I have with family, patients and colleagues, I feel that I should log it here. I am not going to go on about it for long, I am sure a lot of us want to push it aside when we walk in the door at home or step out of work. </p><p>The effect it has had on me has been very minimal compared to others. At beginning of March my partner and I self isolated for 2 weeks because we thought that he had it, still don't know if he did but never mind. His taste buds have not been the same for months, even now. I have had to work from home for about 3 months with the odd day in the office printing off letters and doing admin tasks that you just can't do at home. I have used public transport the whole time, still do and am strict with hand sanitiser and not touching handles etc on the bus. We do a lot of our shopping on line but also used our local shops too which to be honest, caused less anxiety. The only thing that was really upsetting was I was not allowed to see my grandchildren for 3 months. That was hard, I tried ringing them every few days but not having a good relationship with their Mum, it was hard. </p><p>We are seeing them regularly now which brings us great joy and even the last few times, my Grand-daughter wanted to do some crochet so we had a go at it together and it brought a bit smile to my face.</p><p>Today, is Monday 23.11.20 and I am just writing this with a little update of my crafts I have been doing. To be honest I just want to start loads of things but there is just not enough hours in the day and I wanted to start some different crafts. So far, I have cross stitch Christmas stocking on the go, a crochet blanket for a Christmas present and am knitting garter stitch with scraps of sock yarn together with a fluffy grey yarn. I am kind of thinking it might be my idea of trying to make a cardigan for me (without a pattern). Not saying no more about that in case I jinx it. </p><p>Here are a few pictures of my finished projects...</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi-U2cCv63vR7R43AY1Fy8lfrJm_anKR4GDkrMZaGAJtTCQ8UjvtgWsqE9FmylT6kg_qAC-FLEoVmeJpXbWseGKPvNSj5zUUPPCob-Qoe8ZGmFV5xD51mJNDyOUNK9QA3sFelGCj9BLdw/s1031/20201017_112202_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1031" data-original-width="581" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi-U2cCv63vR7R43AY1Fy8lfrJm_anKR4GDkrMZaGAJtTCQ8UjvtgWsqE9FmylT6kg_qAC-FLEoVmeJpXbWseGKPvNSj5zUUPPCob-Qoe8ZGmFV5xD51mJNDyOUNK9QA3sFelGCj9BLdw/s320/20201017_112202_resized.jpg" /></a></div>This, I am ever so proud of. It is all handspun from fibre by me using either Blue Faced Leicester, Coriedale, Gotland or Norweigan fibre. Knitted in garter stitch like a log cabin but in blocks and then sewing together using hand spun. <div><br /></div><div>It has been a labour of love. My grandkids helped to mix colours on a blending board and if you see if in real life it has a few dashes of shiny stellina. I spun the fibre on my E-spinner 3 and it was a chore to have to keep getting the spinner out. It would have been done quicker if I had the space in my house to have the E-spinner out all the time but alas, I don't.</div><div><br /></div><div>It is very heavy, very warm and I will probably not make another one because of the work that goes into it.</div><div><br /></div><div>However, it is certainly my unique blanket that is going to last longer than I will.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8lhow5TK_X7noeW5DAHL7gJWe-9875ieeh2-kIeGFeURacxTd86_D24ZgvgLHRH4kN2-rBf4vpi8XNMM1K5pjItBlbtGtkcmCHKXECkLFX50J3K2CwgzdfMz5aRD_Y8SwPfSvuquZoNU/s793/20201116_200252_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="793" data-original-width="479" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8lhow5TK_X7noeW5DAHL7gJWe-9875ieeh2-kIeGFeURacxTd86_D24ZgvgLHRH4kN2-rBf4vpi8XNMM1K5pjItBlbtGtkcmCHKXECkLFX50J3K2CwgzdfMz5aRD_Y8SwPfSvuquZoNU/s320/20201116_200252_resized.jpg" /></a></div>This next photo is of a Purse kit that I bought from Amazon a few weeks ago. </div><div><br /></div><div>The embroidery is finished and it was so quick to do. My idea is to turn it into the purse the you can see in the photo but I have been waiting for some items to arrive in the post. </div><div><br /></div><div>The kit came with all the things you need, even the clasp, but I have just not had time to finish it yet. </div><div><br /></div><div>I hope I can get it done soon so that I can put it into a Christmas gift bag for my Mother in Law. She will love it.</div><div><br /></div><div>If I remember rightly, the kit only cost about £8 which was a bargain however, if you do decide to buy one, be warned. So here is what I have been up to..</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZkUvxYe0AYfaArX1i6UbkrLLkYzm8DssQ19vvNV6x9JJa5M_ilNef-89ZoljsOOL8x5-_KeJS8_62BDMrLUtsWr5rhacpGXKAHZZxT2W4ia3LQdLsTSotuZnoEyvQVXlXI52BtOeE39Q/s1080/IMG_20200902_174720_945.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZkUvxYe0AYfaArX1i6UbkrLLkYzm8DssQ19vvNV6x9JJa5M_ilNef-89ZoljsOOL8x5-_KeJS8_62BDMrLUtsWr5rhacpGXKAHZZxT2W4ia3LQdLsTSotuZnoEyvQVXlXI52BtOeE39Q/s320/IMG_20200902_174720_945.jpg" /></a></div>These are a West Yorkshire Spinner sock yarn and it is called Rum Paradise. <div><br /></div><div>I knitted a turned hem instead of a rib hem and my partner really likes it. I think I will do that again on my next pair of socks. They are quite long in the leg and he said he prefers that, especially for when it starts to get colder now and I have got use to knitting a heel flap, heel turn and gusset too. It does fit much better on his foot.</div><div><br /></div><div>I did go through his socks recently and he has now got 31 pairs of hand knit socks, so I have knitted around 50 pairs of socks over the past few years. I made myself a few pairs and also have been making some for family members. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqffL4sVwIctDzKhKGWTlYZYKZs1nlgMMGf4pQnH2T9Wb5F_heDiIhoZmJmiu73P8F_MlDsiND74iB1Kkrs1Fyzy1Wh3rRMsA69nVCkmvSKMttv72F5T2F1pASJ7079Nvi1FKAE8_0fOI/s580/IMG_20200906_104305_413_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="580" data-original-width="580" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqffL4sVwIctDzKhKGWTlYZYKZs1nlgMMGf4pQnH2T9Wb5F_heDiIhoZmJmiu73P8F_MlDsiND74iB1Kkrs1Fyzy1Wh3rRMsA69nVCkmvSKMttv72F5T2F1pASJ7079Nvi1FKAE8_0fOI/s320/IMG_20200906_104305_413_resized.jpg" /></a></div>This photo shows you all of my partner's socks that I have made. It obviously does not include the pair that he is wearing. <div><br /></div><div>I think I will have to make some Christmas pairs now because it lacks a but of festive season in that pile of socks.</div><div><br /></div><div>I have been on the look out for some really bright, stripy Christmas colours and I have seen West Yorkshire Spinners latest Christmas colour ways but I have also seen a colour way on Stranded Dyeworks which Amy dyes and I might treat myself and my partner to a couple of skeins. </div><div><br /></div><div>Watch this space for that!<br /><div><br /></div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQVk3J4Tl6zUSRjZBI_QKgYy8lKbYiqN6eLEjq9EVUvFbC29Y4NLcuMfWrj0wTry5CAFnYPedNbggqeiyLb0LtvfuIVjHKjW0kdKPrmQTCWVGKfj_OYTbcVgW3_JRuxuMJZsf1r_3aR88/s1031/20200919_100533_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1031" data-original-width="581" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQVk3J4Tl6zUSRjZBI_QKgYy8lKbYiqN6eLEjq9EVUvFbC29Y4NLcuMfWrj0wTry5CAFnYPedNbggqeiyLb0LtvfuIVjHKjW0kdKPrmQTCWVGKfj_OYTbcVgW3_JRuxuMJZsf1r_3aR88/s320/20200919_100533_resized.jpg" /></a></div>After crocheting a big blanket for my eldest son and his partner, my niece asked me to crochet her a lap blanket similar to the one I made my son. </div><div><br /></div><div>Here it is hanging on the washing line in a warm sunny August day. What you cannot see is that I crocheted a scallop type of edge just to give it a bit of a bling look.</div><div><br /></div><div>The blanket is washed and tagged with my leather label and is now inside a plastic bag, in time out, because of Covid and is waiting to go to it's new home.</div><div><br /></div><div>My niece Jade seems excited to receive it which makes it all the more worth while to make when something you have spent 8 weeks making is going to be looked after.</div><div><br /></div><div>I hope it gives her many years of enjoyment.</div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinX9YajliqOsY6ZYNA-k8N_Cjk2wcbwB5JzVRxCfp46ZxCqAYx0nAhRRY8q6rxAJ_GKTA6JVx4FFCSwJGN65npMWBBWsje-eW_FXk309G72QwBFO3G4sT_ssO5iu7yf1yowl3T5PIptQ0/s580/IMG_20200919_142408_807_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="580" data-original-width="580" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinX9YajliqOsY6ZYNA-k8N_Cjk2wcbwB5JzVRxCfp46ZxCqAYx0nAhRRY8q6rxAJ_GKTA6JVx4FFCSwJGN65npMWBBWsje-eW_FXk309G72QwBFO3G4sT_ssO5iu7yf1yowl3T5PIptQ0/s320/IMG_20200919_142408_807_resized.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p>Now, my final finished project is this gorgeous bag I made.</p><p>I have gone down the rabbit hole of starting embroidery and I wanted to practice some different themes on some scrap Aida. I watched a couple of Youtube videos and I am so happy with the finished project.</p><p>It then spent a few weeks waiting for me to decide what to do with it. I ordered some fabric online and when it came, I just put it away for a while till I can decide what to make. It was either going to be a little cushion or a project bag.</p><p><br /></p><p>Well, last Sunday I decided to just get on with it and decide what to make, so I got out the sewing machine and this is what I ended up making. I have never sewn a zip in before and I wanted it on the front of the project and not on the top. That was interesting to do! I used some cotton batting and a cream coloured lining and voila! I am really happy with it and is something I would call 'unique' because you could never put a price on something like this. It has it's faults, could have been sewn a bit better but to me, it is perfect.</p><p>My partner and I were talking about what price would you put on something you have spent weeks and weeks stitching and then spent 3 hours sewing together, as well as the cost of it all. I really don't think you can put a price on something that is so time consuming. That is why I like to make 'unique' items and if I want to keep them, I will but if I want to give them as gifts to craft worthy people, then I think that is a good plan.</p><p>Works in Progress consist of a rabbit hole that I have jumped back into after many years. When my boys were little I was very much into cross stitch and on my wall I have a couple of finished projects that are at least 20 years old. My youngest son was about 18 months old when I moved into this house and he is now 26 years old and I stopped cross stitching at least 15 years ago. I even gave away my cross stitch threads and Aida stash about a year ago because I thought I would not do it anymore. Unfortunately, that was a big mistake because now I have started cross stitch up again and I forgot how much I enjoy it.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4EeJYIVnVnSMtkZxMdvez1qBSu8VPFOfkpeQMguPi7MTx3myHmg9hCXXFWlxNWp80XYb0DYRj__bqSOJ_AgjfWkEH7a4Zm5DEfW8GU4m3Cc8DZXiOU6mTJ430cFhPqU5dN04jDmEek1E/s1031/20200923_172757_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1031" data-original-width="581" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4EeJYIVnVnSMtkZxMdvez1qBSu8VPFOfkpeQMguPi7MTx3myHmg9hCXXFWlxNWp80XYb0DYRj__bqSOJ_AgjfWkEH7a4Zm5DEfW8GU4m3Cc8DZXiOU6mTJ430cFhPqU5dN04jDmEek1E/s320/20200923_172757_resized.jpg" /></a></div>This is what I have been working on for about 6 weeks. It is a design from a William Morris book and the design is called Orange Bell Pull. It is folded in the photo and will be about 16 inches in length when it is finished.</div><div><br /></div><div>I try to work on it every day for a couple of hours, preferably in day light and so far, it is about 3/4 done. There are 4 charts in total and I am on the 3rd chart. </div><div><br /></div><div>I have been watching Flosstube on Youtube and that is another rabbit hole I have fallen down but I really need to curb it now.</div><div><br /></div><div>I have knitting, spinning, crochet, cross stitch and embroidery as my hobbies. I have to discipline myself because I do not like having loads of unfinished projects so at the moment I have...</div><div><br /></div><div>A handspun blanket that is almost done, the cross stitch bell pull in the photo and I am spinning some merino to have a go at making a pair of hand spun socks. I also started knitting a vest for myself which is my first garment since I was about 17 years ago. </div><div><br /></div><div>I have been waiting for the weather to get a bit colder to knit some more on the hand spun blanket. I have it ready to just knit the border now and to use up the hand spun that I have for it. </div><div><br /></div><div>Oh well, I think that is enough go make up for my absence on here. I hope that everyone is well and keeping themselves safe from Covid. </div><div><br /></div><div>I do hope to post on here again soon, I will try and post once a week just to show any progress and maybe show some autumn photos because I love this season. </div><div><br /></div><div>Take care...be back soon.</div><div><p><br /></p></div></div>suehbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16197711591852759099noreply@blogger.com0
